I just picked up a book called Lisa Dark and Light. Has anyone read this? I guess it is an older book. I found it in the book section of a thrift store. Kinda reminded me of Go Ask Alice.

I read a book not too long ago named "The Green Rider." It was quite good. It's a fantasy book about a young woman who has to take a message to the king while persued by dark forces.

Challenge: Can anyone recommend any great books that are fairly to all-the-way happy? I've asked a ton of my literary friends, and it's harder than it sounds. Everyone loves a poignant drama:)

-- Once upon a time . . . Recently I read THIS BLESSED MESS by Patricia Livingston, a gift from my mom. Chaos is inherent in life & leads to love & creation. One of author's favorite quotes is Yogi Berra's "It ain't over til it's over." AN EQUAL MUSIC by Vikram Seth is an exquisite novel. When I returned it to library I borrowed John Steinbeck's SWEET THURSDAY. I think it's a sequel to CANNERY ROW. Now I'm going to listen to Franz Schubert's beautiful "Trout Quintet." The End --

Book Reviews by Barbara Hudson I enjoyed the premise. I felt the author was attempting to write in a style similar to Robert Crais and David Baldacci. The author has his own unique style and is obviously on his way to write many more good spy-action novels.
by Carmela Hammie I want to say that when I read the book it's as if I was watching the movie. It's simply incredible how the author did this. To actually envision the car chase in Rome and especially the love scenes on Berhala Beach was simply spectacular. It's definitely the new American Bond movie. It's a must read novel.

Just a reminder that you can help support organizations that help poor people arounf the world by donating unwanted stuff to charity shops for resale. Oxfam - a charity that is working to reduce global poverty and suffering created by war, climate change and global warming has recycled second hand books on sale in its shops which supports their important work.

Crossing Borders - Cultural misunderstandings, crazy and dangerous situations, inter-cultural friendships, love and disappointment and the excitement of exploring. "Crossing Borders" tells the story of living and becoming an adult in a foreign country away from friends and family. This narrative is not a simple travel log of pondering curiosities, it unites the weirdest, most interesting and funniest experiences from twelve years living abroad. The story starts out with the author's experiences of his first adventure in the heart of Europe-in German speaking Austria. Dreams of going to study at the Viennese Academy of Music go up in smoke when the protagonist fails the entrance exam. The protagonist not only ends up living in a mountain village in the Alps, but also discovers traits and virtues in his new Austrian friends that he never thought possible. From almost getting shot in Cairo, having his bride kidnapped on their wedding day, to getting blackmailed by a Moroccan snake charmer, each chapter takes the reader on an extraordinary cultural trip, a book for anyone who likes to travel, whether in their mind or reality. BLIND CONSENT was released last week and has already received a 5 star review. Here's the blurb. You can read reviews and excerpts from all my books at Davisstories.com
Blind Consent - Romantic Suspense The town of Tanglewood Falls offers breath-taking views, yet the serendipity is misleading. The impoverished people and their forgotten community have been unwittingly exploited. Their act of trust and blind consent altered their existence and the secret has remained buried, until Ryan returns to explore his heritage. For twenty years, he’s been haunted by confusing images, recurring dreams rooted in his past. He’s driven to understand their meaning, to obtain answers to his lost memories. Ryan’s search for truth collides with the folklore of the simple people and the belief that their beautiful Annie is blessed. Together, they unravel the mystery, but at a price. They become targets of those responsible for what happened to the town. As the truth is exposed, Ryan must grapple with his own reality; the fact that his past, his nightmares, and Annie’s secret, everything is entangled in the desperate act of one lonely man.
